Class Overview
Activities abound in our before and after school enrichment program.
School-age children encompass a vast population, ranging in age from 5 years to 12 years. Although these children have many things in common, EHCC best addresses their individuality by providing separate programs, one for children in kindergarten/1st grade, and another for those in grades 2 through 5.
The K-1 program offers before and after school care to children from Norton and Attleboro. The informal learning environment of this program is the perfect complement to the busy life of the kindergarten or first grade child. Creative and sensitive teachers provide daily learning opportunities, different from those experienced at public School. Through these fun filled adventures, children sharpen their abstract thinking, enhance peer relationships, and further practice their skills of conflict resolution.
Grades 2 through 5 enter the before and after school program as individuals willing and able to learn from one another. The questions they pose to their teachers at EHCC are incorporated into the curriculum as learning experiences, thus creating a “child-directed” learning environment. Careful guidance from teaching staff assures that each experience incorporates all possible learning media, math and science, critical thinking, problem solving, and social skills. Music, drama, cooking, and art allow opportunities to appreciate cultural diversity while encouraging children to share their many talents.
